Two things caught my attention on this topic. Firstly, this discount is promoted as a ‘student’ discount, but high school students can’t benefit from it. This seems a bit unfair to me because I am sure there are lots of high school students who want to learn a foreign language for a convenient price. I think Preply not allowing high school students to benefit from this discount, is a big disadvantage of the platform. The other thing that caught my attention is that you can get the discount only after you buy at least a lesson from Preply. Also, the discount is active only for your first month which is weird I think because normally, student discounts last longer so they can benefit from it longer.
In addition to these, I also think that the discount being limited to private courses is unfair. Since every student learns at their own pace and their own comfort, I believe it is wrong to force them to get one-on-one lessons. Of course, I understand that Preply is not forcing anyone to do anything, but I think giving a discount code only for one type of class is not that different from forcing them to get one-on-one lessons.
